The Focus (2). by Mark McIlroy 09.05.2026 The focus is a terrible thing. This is a situation which is similar to a spotlight being shone onto a person on a theatre stage. When the focus is on a person, they are attacked and accused of many things. Their accusers claim to be important, superior and good, and they make judgements about the accused. This situation can occur in society with a whole class of people, in individual situations, and in therapy sessions and schools for example. When a person is under the focus, it is impossible for them to 'win'. It doesn't matter what they say, it doesn't matter what they do. The accused will be judged to have failed, to be a bad person, and to deserve nothing. The focus can include the following logic: 'If you do action X, you have done something that is incorrect, you have failed, and you are a bad person. However, If you DON'T do action X, you have done something that is incorrect, you have failed, and you are a bad person'. This, quite obviously, is an extremely unfair system of judgement to apply to a person. Part 2. It doesn't matter how deserving a person is, if they are under the focus they will be given nothing and the attitude of the accusers will be that that person should have nothing. If a person is under the focus, they cannot win. All that that person can do is defend themselves, wait, and pray that one day the focus will be on their accusers instead of them. Part 3. Anyone participating in this system deserves to have the wrath of God fall on to them.
